Ongoing linky parties: Motivation Monday and Fabulously Frugal Thursdays.

Darkness and rain.
I am thinking…
about the coming of hurricane Sandy and its impact on our area. As I drove around yesterday, I found myself wondering if the next few days would bring changes as we lose power and experience flooding, or would we come through okay.
I am thankful for…
my family.
I am pondering…
Living a green/frugal lifestyle…
My biggest frugal tip which also happens to be green – stay home. Stay home and enjoy the family, do things around the home, make lots of food from scratch.
From the kitchen…
I wrote a wrap-up of the October #unprocessed challenge at the end of last week. I did okay with the challenge, though I never tackled making sourdough. I’m going to work on sourdough and my baking during November and December while doing my holiday baking.
We have a Halloween party at school this week, fingers crossed. There was some discussion at the party meeting about healthy treats for the kids that were also allergy-free. I’m saving Kitchen Stewardship’s post about her Easy, Almost No Sugar Halloween Party for next year’s school party. In the meantime, I’ll “test” her recipes.
I am creating…
expectations for Monday and Tuesday if there’s no school, and maybe no power. I “think” we’ll be able to clean up the toys in the basement during the day if we have no power. We may also spend time tidying up our board games so we can play the games.
I am going…
to mass, maybe Costco for our stock up trip, and maybe to a birthday party for my 1st grade son’s classmate. I think we’re all holding our breath as the rain continues today and the wind starts.
I am reading…
not much, other than what’s on my Kindle. I need to get to the library, however, I couldn’t go because we owe them a CD for a children’s book. The CD was stuck in the CD player for about 3 weeks; now it’s free. I can return it, and pay all our fines which are too much. At least it’s for the public library.
Living A Healthy Lifestyle…
I haven’t been doing my usual mileage for the past 2 weeks. I’m not sure what the issue is, besides too many nights out doing stuff with the kids. I’m working on getting back on schedule this week.
I am hoping…
we all make it through the upcoming storm with no one getting hurt and minimal damage to the electric lines.
I am hearing…
rain.
Around the house…
The kids are cleaning up the toys in the basement in case of flooding. I’ll start working on the basement this week. My plan is to get rid of items that I’ve sat on for too long and to make the most of what we have for toy storage.
Around the yard…
We’ve removed as much as we can of potential flying debris. The grape vine trellis may go over again like it did in Hurricane Irene. Fortunately, we have no trees in our yard or neighboring yards to worry about.
One of my favorite things…
Facebook – The community of women that I’ve met online and in real life are simply amazing. I know we’ll all be lifting each other up in our thoughts and prayers as we go through this storm.
A few plans for the rest of the week:
Waiting to see what happens with the storm, a Halloween party at school on Wednesday, lunch with my mother-in-law, and an orthodontist check up.
A picture for thought…

These amazing flowers are in bloom right now.
