Darkness and cold.
I am thinking…
about writing, balance, and integrity.
I am thankful for…
my kids and their school. It’s such a wonderful community of families.
I am pondering…
My husband and I discussed his feelings of being overwhelmed – by life, by projects, by the kids. We’ve decided to re-institute a weekly planning meeting. It looks like our Thursday night trips to the grocery store are the best times. We can chat and shop and focus on the upcoming weekend.
Living a green/frugal lifestyle…
I’m getting ready to purchase a new-to-me camera. I find it interesting that I didn’t spend much time researching my new laptop last year, however, for this purchase, I’m researching the dickens out of it. I use both on a daily basis, and I care more about getting the best buy for the camera than I do for the laptop.
From the kitchen…
With a busy week last week, I didn’t get much done. However, I found out that one of the Blendtec recipes I tried, the peanut butter granola bars, was a hit with my husband and the kids. I also made a batch of soaked granola.
This week, my plan is to make more snacks and freeze them. With store bought snacks running anywhere from $1.50 to $5 per pound, I know that it’s more economical and nutritious for me to make snacks.
I am creating…
plans for the week and my menu plan.
I am going…
to stay home and finish up a few projects and then take my 3rd son to a birthday party. We printed the card out from American Greetings rather than make a quick trip to the store. Yeah me! And, time to stock up on birthday cards.
I am reading…
Pinterest Savvy as part of my blogging education.
Living A Healthy Lifestyle…
While I wait for my ankle sprain to heal (I’m hearing it could take a month), I’m inspiring myself with posts like this one:

I am hoping…
for a great week! Thursday is Valentine’s Day which means I’m helping with the Kindergarten Valentine Party. Since my kids have no school on Friday, we’re headed to Longwood Gardens to check out the Orchids.
I am hearing…
Quiet. Everyone is asleep.
Around the house…
Now that my vacuum is fixed with a new belt, I am slowly catching up on the crumbs populating the floors.
Around the yard…
The debate is on between hubby and me about the yard. Is it worth maintaining the beds and vegetable garden? Or, do they go fallow for a few years?
One of my favorite things…
my Longwood Garden family membership. This time of year, I love visiting the Conservatory to smell the flowers and enjoy the greenery.
A few plans for the rest of the week:
Cub Scouts, writing projects, Valentine’s Day, lunch duty, Longwood Gardens, ending with my birthday.
A picture for thought…

Hi Barb, maybe letting the garden go for a year or two isn’t a bad thing. We do have some great farmers markets and local produce available…with your kids getting older and into more activities maybe you and your hubby should take a break…..and if I have a bumper crop of tomatoes/beans I’ll share….
Yes! I think I’m going to talk to dh about signing up for a CSA. I’m not ready to give up the vegetable garden completely though I’m fine with cutting it back to half its current size.
