2013 Philadelphia Flower ShowAfter I went to the Philadelphia Flower Show last week by myself to do my own photography trip, I came back the last day of the show with the kids. I highly recommend going to the show on a Sunday morning at 8 am. Both times, the show was not crowded. On the last Sunday of the show, it was less crowded.

2013 Philadelphia Flower ShowI love that my kids are so willing to share with each other. Most of the time. I do not recommend buying snacks at the show.

2013 Philadelphia Flower ShowWe checked out The Power of Poop exhibit presented by the Philadelphia Water Department, and learned about what can and can’t be put down the food disposal. I won’t give you the shot of the toilet because I’ve spent too much time plunging our toilet this week.

2013 Philadelphia Flower ShowA friendly hitchhiker – Coffee the Sea Turtle. For the record, all of the turtles in our home are named Coffee. I have no idea where that name came from. ;)

2013 Philadelphia Flower ShowThanks to recent trips to Longwood Gardens, my kids have developed an interest in Bonsai. Not to mention my 9 year old son’s interest in photography.

2013 Philadelphia Flower ShowDumbledore and the Chestnut Hill College Quidditch Team. We practiced our most important spells.

2013 Philadelphia Flower ShowI talked about getting this shot all week. She was ready to do it, and then boom, tears and drama. I took the kids for a snack, we saw Dumbledore, and she said yes. The Elizabeths.

2013 Philadelphia Flower ShowYes, we’re missing one.

So bummed I missed the flower show this year. I love English gardens too. I would of never thought of bringing my kids but there seemed to be a lot for them too.

If you can go at a quieter time, I think your kids would get a lot out of it. I forgot to mention the hunt for the Queen. We had to go around the exhibit hall and find all the pictures of the Queen to write down the letters with each picture. Then we needed to unscramble the letters to figure out a word and then be entered in a drawing for tickets for next year. The word was pretty hard – horticulture!

2014 looks very interesting. They’re calling it “Articulture.”

Looks like an amazing time! I always forget about it until it’s too late. I think my entire family could have used a “what not to put down the food disposal” speech, because they shove everything down ours!

I had to laugh when I saw how fascinated my kids were by the Water Department exhibit.

When she told me she didn’t want to do the shot after all, I was crushed! I really wanted to have that shot in her First Communion Album, even though it has nothing much to do with First Communion. You wouldn’t believe the bribes I offered to get her to agree.
