Outside my window…
Dark skies sprinkled with stars.

I am thinking…
about the October #Unprocessed Challenge and transitioning my family to a hybrid of Paleo/Nourishing Traditions.

I am thankful for…
My husband going to the produce stand yesterday morning, and coming back with lots of produce. Woohoo!

I am pondering…

A crop is made by all the seasons and the only way to have it all — is not at the same time… but letting one season bring its yield into the next.

A Holy Experience

A reminder that we can have it all, just not all at the same time.

Living a green/frugal lifestyle…
Despite my post about frugal fall decorations, I’ve been staying out of stores unless I need to buy stuff. Instead, when I feel the urge to go clothes shopping for myself, even though I need better fitting pants, I find a spot to declutter at home. Yesterday, I went through my upstairs closet to see which of my nicer clothes fit. Then, I tackled the bathroom closet with the help of 2 kids and cleaned out expired toiletries.

From the kitchen…
I feel like September flew by a little too fast to prepare for the October #Unprocessed Challenge. Andrew Wilder of Eating Rules has been sending out FAQs about different ingredients like flour and beverages. Nope, haven’t read them.

I’m also struggling with getting wheat out of our diet. While I did well in August, in September, I found myself eating wheat more than once a week, and it’s showing up all the time in my family’s breakfasts and lunches. Since my husband as chief lunch maker in the morning has expressed frustration with getting the kids to make choices, I’m going to use this as an opportunity. I’m sitting down with the kids today to discuss lunch and snacks for the week instead of planning it myself. To help my husband, I’ll keep the kids’ choices posted where he makes their lunches instead of across the kitchen on our fridge as I usually do.

I am creating…
a short list of priorities for myself which I’ll post in order to stay focused.

I am going…
to mass and maybe a walk in the morning.

I am reading…
Paleoista: Gain Energy, Get Lean, and Feel Fabulous With the Diet You Were Born to Eat, and not getting into it. I think I’m going to pull out my cookbooks like The Garden Of Eating: A Produce-dominated Diet & Cookbook and read them.

Living A Healthy Lifestyle…
While I’m having some issues getting enough weight training in during the week, I’m doing really well with my running. I ran just over 12 miles last week, and I plan to run 14 miles this week including a 5 mile run.

I am hoping…
for a fabulous day.

I am hearing…
quiet.

Around the house…
What is it with the spiders this time of year!?! I vacuum up the webs, and they’re back again a day later.

Around the yard…
We’re slowly making progress on cleaning up for the winter.

One of my favorite things…
figuring out how to use the clothes I have. I’ve been posting some of my more successful thrifted outfits on Wednesdays.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Cub Scouts, Venturing, soccer, lunch duty, and possibly a 5k race Friday night.

A picture for thought…
