Ongoing linky parties: Motivation Monday and Fabulously Frugal Thursdays.

For example, I know both of my local Target store opens at 8 am, and both are equidistant from me. However, the Target store at the mall gets a lot more traffic at that time. So, I head over to the other Target because I know I can get in and out of the store a lot faster thanks to fewer people going to the store.
My husband and I do our weekly food shopping date together on Thursday nights at a Giant 15 minutes from our home, even though there’s a Giant only 10 minutes from our home. Why? Because the Giant farther away is bigger, has little traffic on a Thursday night, plus it’s easier to get to even though it’s farther away.
I have messed up getting a last minute errand done because I didn’t check the store hours before heading out. When I needed to pick up school supplies for one of my kids on a Sunday night, I didn’t realize the local Staples store closed at 6 pm on Sundays. I showed up at 6:05 pm. Major fail. I had to go back the next day to pick up what I need.

This is excellent advice, and in case anybody missed what’s frugal about it: Extra trips to the store waste gasoline or transit fare. (If you walk or bike, though, at least you got extra exercise!) Also, “Time is money,” i.e. you could have used that time to earn or save money.
