When I was in Michaels this week picking up supplies for my sequined pumpkin project, I wandered the aisles looking for fall decorating bargains. As always, my price breakpoint is $3 to $4 or less, compared to what I would spend at Goodwill. Keeping my price point so low has prevented me from buying many a “bargain” at Michaels.
This time I found these cute felt placemats, slightly smaller than the ones I found at Bed, Bath, and Beyond two years ago. These were $1.99 each, and came in 6 different colors and shapes.
I like using felt cutouts because of their graphic nature against patterns. I don’t like to layer with different patterns because that’s too visually stimulating for me. I’d rather layer with texture and graphic shapes.
My sequined pumpkins, currently located on our dining room buffet, are a work in progress. After buying my supplies and working on them, I decided I needed more sparkle. The smaller pumpkin has some sequins that I found in the dollar section of Michaels. I highly recommend looking beyond the scrapbooking section for supplies if you decide to make the pumpkins.

Hi Barb,
I love the bedazzled pumpkins! What a great idea….I’ll have to watch for an after Halloween sale.
Hope all is well.
I picked up a couple of the placemats too. I really like the feel of the thick felt. I had lots of fun decorating the house for fall with my son yesterday. Your tablescape looks lovely! If you have a chance, I would love for you to share this with the Gallery of Favorites.
Sure! I’d love to see what you did with your son, too.
I will be posting it later in the week.

Thanks for your comment on my post. I didn’t make the pillow covers. I bought them at the 99cents store. I have different sets. They are great because they look like I spent more on them. I love your home decor.
I love finds like that! Thanks for the compliment!
I know exactly what you mean about multiple patterns being too visually stimulating. This looks great!
